Antique Nevada Silver Serving Spoon Irregular Bowl Diamond Mark Daniel Arter D&A
Information on this spoon was hard to find. The irregular shape of the spoon tip is probably for serving a condiment, but I could not find many like it. The diamond registry mark on the back does have a "I" for metal, but either the number at the top or right of the diamond should be a letter, but they are both a number "4". The diamond mark was used for items made in England in the mid to late 1800s, but that is all I know.
Daniel & Arter (marked D&A on the back) was a manufacturer from the late 1800s that used the trademark Nevada Silver as well as others. The spoon is believed to be mix of silver and other metal alloys. It did not polish up as well as silver plate or sterling.
It has a leaf pattern; looks like maple leaves. Most of the later D&A flatware has a fiddle shape pattern (from what is shown on the web).
It is just a unusual spoon in both marking & shape.
Approximately 7" long
