In West Africa these pendants were prized as powerful amulets. Their geometry told a story of balance: the circle embodied feminine energy, while the triangle stood for the masculine. Together, the Tanfouk or Talhakimt symbolized the sacred union of the two, earning them a reputation as potent "love charms."

They were crafted in the glassworks of Czechoslovakia and funneled into the Western Sahara through trade networks during the early 1900s, where they were worn as striking necklaces or woven into elaborate hairstyles.
