A striking and characterful Bing & Grøndahl porcelain figurine from the celebrated

Danish Workmen / Craftsmen series — depicting a seated craftsman or stonemason

at his workbench, mallet raised in one hand, chisel gripped in the other, deeply

absorbed in his work.

The figure wears a cobalt blue work shirt, tan trousers, grey cap, and grey shoes —

all rendered with the nuanced, realistic glazework that distinguishes B&G's

craftsman figurines. The face is finely modeled with a concentrated, serious

expression. He sits atop a rendered stone or wood block base, tools in hand mid-

strike — a moment of skilled labor frozen in fine porcelain.

B&G's Workmen series has long been prized by collectors for its respectful, dignified

portrayal of tradesmen — bricklayers, blacksmiths, plumbers, and stonemasons —

capturing the artistry of everyday Danish working life. This is a hand-painted
