Disk is characteristic of Metales Casados (Married Metals). This specialized technique involves precisely fitting different metals, such as silver, copper, and brass, together to create a seamless decorative surface, often further embellished with stone inlays like turquoise. These pieces were commonly designed as combination pendant-brooches, featuring both a pin back and a hidden bale (hook) for a chain.

Artisan behind the center initials "JHE” remains formally unidentified by name in major Mexican silver hallmark directories but the "JHE" artisan was considered a master of mixed-metal techniques and intricate stone inlay.
