In 2023, the debut album by the Potsdam medieval folk metal pioneers will be released on LP for the first time in almost 30 years!
Subway To Sally is a German band that comes from Potsdam and was founded in 1990. The band's early years were characterized by a striving for musical perfection and a clear goal in mind: the creation of their own musical style that combines elements from medieval music and modern rock music. In the early years of Subway To Sally, the band was primarily characterized by a strong DIY mentality. Even though Subway To Sally is now one of the most famous bands in German medieval rock, they have retained their authenticity and artistic self-image. At the beginning of their career, the band members of Subway To Sally had little financial resources and often performed in small clubs and pubs. Nevertheless, they managed to expand their fan base and become better known over the years.
The combination of rocky to martial guitar riffs, dark lyrics and elements of medieval music created a completely new listening experience. In 1994 the band released their debut album »Album«. The record was enthusiastically received by the critics and ensured that Subway To Sally became known outside of Potsdam. The lyrics are characterized by dark and melancholic themes, which often demonstrate a deep sense of poetry and metaphor. In the years that followed, Subway To Sally released further albums, including "Foppt den Demon!" (1996) and "Bannkreis" (1998), both of which were very successful and brought the band more and more fans. The band also began to make a name for itself internationally and performed in the USA and Mexico, among other places.
