A late Victorian Worcester demitasse cup and saucer dating to approximately 1879–1880, decorated in a striking cobalt blue Aesthetic Movement / Japonisme style pattern with gilt detailing.
The design features geometric motifs, bamboo, leaves, and fan forms characteristic of the Anglo-Japanese decorative movement popular during the late 19th century. A highly decorative antique cabinet piece.
Condition
Item Condition Report:
The cup has a substantial crack running from the rim down through the body to the base interior. The saucer displays age-related wear and does not ring clearly when lightly tapped, though no visible cracks or chips are observed. There is age-related discolouration/crazing and some gilt wear consistent with use and age.
Condition reflects our professional opinion following careful examination.
