Vintage Hackett rugby shirt XL
From the early 90s before Hackett lost the plot.
Staggeringly fine quality - every detail considered- collar shaped and eased into the collar band - every pressure point reenforce. Heavy duty cotton - amazing quality - don’t mistake these for modern rugby shirts, these are way beyond modern, cheapjack standards that compensate for poor tailoring with stretch fabric and price-point compromise.
These shirts are tougher than the ones I played in, in the 70s.
Good in the hot weather as you have a layer of cool breeze about you due to the fit and the robust fabric allows the passage of air to circulate further- I’m wearing my house rugby shirt as I write this in hot weather - same quality (New & Lingwood) and actually rather better.
You really look the dog’s spheroids in these shirts - way superior and it shows - the admiring in you social circle will naturally be led to feel the quality and will be compelled to remark favourably.
Be you rugger- bugger tough or Stephen Tennant aesthete - here is the ultimate rugby shirts- watch your partner pinch it as nightwear or modesty gown in the morning.
I am reluctant to sell these as they are irreplaceable and rare - the price reflects this but is still modest compared to over hyped price high endorsed tat, but I am awash with kit, but I’ll keep a few nine-the-less.
Barely worn, but a few marks due to being stored for 35 years - will wash out.
This shirt will fade beautifully after many washes - it will improve with age and you can pretend you actually played in it. Some fade already, but not much - just enough.
Quality enough to outlive you.
