Introduction:
Wheel spacers are metal, disc-shaped aftermarket parts installed between a vehicle’s wheel hub assembly and the wheel itself. They serve to push the wheels outward, increasing the track width for improved, more aggressive aesthetics (flush fitment), better cornering stability, or added clearance for larger tires and brake calipers.
Installation steps:
Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels to be spaced.
Jack up the car and place it on jack stands.
Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheels.
Use a wire brush to remove rust and debris from the hub face to ensure the spacer sits perfectly flush.
Remove any rotor retaining screws or clips.
Slide the spacer onto the hub, ensuring it sits flush.
Using the supplied nuts (for bolt-on spacers), fasten the spacer to the hub.
Place the wheel back onto the hub, lining it up with the new studs. Hand-tighten the lug nuts.
Torque the lug nuts in a star pattern to the factory specification.
After driving 50-100 miles, check the torque on all lug nuts again.
Important Considerations:
If installing thick spacers (usually over 5mm-8mm), longer wheel studs are required to ensure the nuts securely fasten, or the spacers must be the bolt-on type to prevent the wheels from becoming loose.
If the original studs protrude past the spacer, they must be cut down or replaced, as the wheel must sit flush against the spacer.
Ensure the spacer is hub-centric (fits tightly on the car's hub) to prevent vibrations.
