Vintage
18” Bluemels bicycle pump from the 1960s / 1970s.
If
you have a vintage road bike from the 1960s or 1970s which has rather empty
looking pump pegs spaced at 18 to 19 inches apart, this could be exactly what
you’re looking for. This very stylish aluminium pump with the red, white and
blue grips was the ‘must have’ accessory back in the day and came as standard
on many of the better quality road bikes (check out the Claud Butler catalogues
from the late ‘60s, for example).
It appears that no-one makes pumps in this size anymore, and this very
tidy used example of the classic Bluemels pump compares very favourably with others
listed on eBay.
Picture
6 shows the pump mounted on a Claud Butler frame I own (frame not included,
sorry). The length of the pump ‘compressed’ is 18 inches. The length of the
pump ‘uncompressed’ is 19 ½ inches.
Pump will be sent wrapped in bubble wrap inside a cardboard tube.
