Chinese Antique Porcelain Shard Box displays beautiful, hand-painted flowers representing part of the Four Seasons: a peony for spring, lotus for summer, and chrysanthemum for fall (Winter plum blossom is missing). They are surrounded by other foliage such as grass and bamboo. The porcelain is glazed with a celadon color glaze, giving it its iconic blue/green finish.
Shard box was made in the 80's & 90's. The box is made of silver-plated copper. The porcelain inlaid on the top of the box is antique from the 1800's to early 1900's from the broken antique Chinese vases, jars, etc. Therefore, no two pieces are exactly the same. They make great collectible items or as gifts. One can fit small personal objects inside the box or even small chocolate candies!
