Condition Description

1. Condition This instrument shows significant cosmetic wear and structural modifications consistent with over 50 years of age. There are numerous scratches, noticeable dings, and surface scuffs distributed across the body, particularly along the edges and back. The clear coat shows natural dimming and light aging. A major modification is present: the original neck has been replaced with a Telecaster-style neck. The hardware exhibits oxidation, pitting, and surface rust on the bridge and tuners. The electronics are functional, though the 3-way selector switch produces minor crackling noise (scratchy noise) when operated. The frets have been used and currently remain at approximately 70% height. Despite the heavy "road-worn" aesthetic, the guitar has been cleaned and the fingerboard maintained. It is sold with a non-original soft case which shows light wear.

2. Product Description This Camel Stratocaster-style guitar is a high-quality mid-to-high-end model produced in the mid-1970s. It features a solid Sen body (often referred to as Japanese Ash), which provides a bright, articulate tone with excellent clarity and "snap." The instrument is paired with a Maple neck and a Rosewood fingerboard, delivering a balanced resonance that sustains well even when unplugged. It is equipped with a traditional 3-way pickup selector, maintaining its period-correct vintage specifications. Weighing approximately 7.5 lbs, it is lightweight and comfortable for long sessions. The total length is approximately 38.6 inches with a standard 25.5-inch scale. This guitar offers a professional-grade build from the golden era of Japanese manufacturing, characterized by its transparent sound and high precision, despite its modified neck.

3. History and Rarity Camel was a prestigious brand launched by Kyowa Shokai, the company behind the famous Fresher brand. While Fresher targeted the entry-level market, Camel was established specifically for middle-to-high-tier players, emphasizing superior craftsmanship. These instruments were manufactured by Chushin Gakki, one of Japan's most respected factories known for their meticulous attention to detail. Because the Camel brand had a relatively short production run compared to its rivals, surviving examples are increasingly rare on the vintage market. This piece represents a significant moment in "Japan Vintage" history where domestic manufacturers shifted focus toward professional-grade quality, making it a unique find for collectors of rare MIJ instruments.
