Rare RN chart plotting ships of the fleet to Commemorate the Visit of HM Queen Elizabeth II 28/29th July 1969 (Colour Presentation)

This is only the 2nd Colours presentation in history the last taking place in 1926 and this fleet review in 1969 took place exactly 381 years to the day after Sir Francis Drake fought the last battle of the Armada. To recall that victory, a replica of the famous Drake's Drum was loaned by HMS Drake at Devonport of which the new Colours was placed on top of it by the Queen (a 3rd presentation occurred in 2003)

This chart was prepared by the RN Hydrographic Dept, it depicts the Torbay area with some 40 RN ships including the survey ships HMS Hecate, Fawn and Fox, Minelayer HMS Abdiel (my 1st ship), Rothesay Class Frigate HMS Plymouth, Leanders HMS Phobe, Sirius and Charybdis, Carrier HMS Eagle and many more all on station for a sail past by HMY Britannia of which her route is plotted in red.

It’s in its original 57cm x 43cm Black and Gilt frame which works perfectly for this amazing piece of history with Crown Copyright dated 1969
