This charming print from a rare children’s book, circa late 1940s. It depicts the SPONGE DIVING industry as it looked in your Grandfather's time. The diver is attached to the boat by an air cord-- so no SCUBA. This whimsical print shows the above and below water scene. Probably of the tarpon SPings area, which was the "Sponge Capital".
This color print is on thick pebbled papers with wonderful color. The color is actually richer and deeper than my scan shows. It has text on the back, but the text is not visible through paper. The page has a slight creamy tone from age.
The page measures approx. 9.25x11 inches, and the actual image area is about 7.75x8.5inches (19.5x21.5 cm).
