Vintage matching pair of ceramic cat figurines made in Japan, likely produced for export during the mid-century period (circa 1950s–1960s). This set includes two coordinated black and white kittens: one seated and one in a playful stretching pose.

Both figures feature hand-painted facial details with stylized, cartoon-like expressions and red accent paint. Each cat includes decorative ribbon.

These figurines also feature flocked (velvet-textured) surface detailing, giving portions of the cats a soft, fur-like finish. This textured finish is characteristic of certain mid-century Japanese export ceramics.

One figure retains a partial original paper sticker fragment, which, based on remaining text and research, is consistent with “Made in Japan” export labeling. Neither figurine has a fully intact base stamp or marking.

These pieces are part of a Japanese export mold family often referred to by collectors as “Figaro-style” due to visual resemblance to the Disney character Figaro. This is a descriptive collector term only and does not indicate official Disney production.

These types of figurines were commonly sold in export markets individually or in mixed assortments rather than as formally boxed sets, and are now collected as vintage decorative ceramics and mid-century kitsch.
