Japanese iron tsuba/samurai sword guard with sukashi cut-out design and fish/water motif. The piece is identified as “Kosukashi / cut out, Sakana / fish, signed Koufu Ju, Masayuki.” Appears to be signed, but the signature has not been professionally authenticated. Round form with central nakago-ana and side openings for sword fittings. Shows age, patina, oxidation, surface wear, and irregularities consistent with age and use. Unpapered and sold as found; not cleaned or restored.
