13-3/8" x 3" max. width
Includes authentic, 6-inch, hand-forged, square-shaft, drive-in pintles
Simple, yet with decorative "bulb" design with hammered grooves
IMO, these could be 1600's, or 1700's, judging from:
- simple "eye" mounting end (as opposed to more complex lapped-over hammer-welded design),
- plain round tip (compared to bean, spear and other more complex end designs),
- eroded "pits" and flaws (characteristic of pre-Bessemer (1865) iron),
Wire brushed and unpainted to reveal the aged texture. Buyer can oil, paint or clear-coat if desired.
From my personal 40+ year collection of early hand-forged, wrought iron hardware
