From the the Jewish War c.66-70 AD.

The First Jewish-Roman War (or Great Revolt) was an uprising by the Jews of Judea against the Roman Empire from 66 to 73 AD, caused by religious and economic tensions. After riots in Jerusalem triggered by the attitude of the Roman governor Florus, a revolt broke out and the Jews took control of the region. A Roman legion led by the governor of Syria, Cestius Gallus, was defeated in the Beth-Horon Pass. In response, Roman forces under the command of Vespasian and then his son Titus suppressed the rebellion, besieging and destroying Jerusalem in 70 AD and, even more symbolically for the Jewish people, the Temple. The revolt ended definitively with the capture of the fortress of Masada in 73 AD. .
