Military Field watch
please read to understand this movement
This is our tribute to the legendary field watches. It draws inspiration from WWII-era military watches such as the Rolex Oyster—notable for combining a hand-wound movement with a screw-down crown. These watches introduced techniques known as “Backsetting” and “Back-threading.”
1. Backsetting: To set the time, move the minute hand past your desired time, then turn it back before pushing in the crown.
2. Back-threading: Before screwing the crown down, rotate it counterclockwise until you feel a click.
3. Hard Stop: A characteristic of these watches is a firm winding stop - often summarized by the old watchmaker’s phrase, “Don’t wind to the wall.” If you reach the stop, do not force it. Let the crown rest before screwing down.
4. Power reserve is 40+ hours—no need to over-wind.
