ORIGINAL WORLD WAR TWO GERMAN FIRST CLASS IRON CROSS - GROUND DUG RELIC.  What remains of this ground dug Iron cross is the frame & the backplate.  The core has pretty much rusted away although I can just make out a shadow of the date 1939 - see close up photo.  The frame is halfway separated from the back plate but still held firmly in place.  The stud on the reverse is present, the fastening disc has broken off and is missing.  The threaded part of the disc is still threaded inside the stud.
