Green Sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus) are also known as sun perch, bluegill or brim. They have deep sides and a small mouth with a long pectoral fin and a spot on the dorsal fin. Sunfish diet consists of insects, insect larvae, fathead minnows, and most fish foods. They spawn through midsummer when water temperatures are 65-85 degrees. Nests are constructed in 1 to 4' of water on firm sand and gravel bottoms. Typically 400+ fish per acre is recommended for stocking. 

All sunfish are sold as an ornamental species and not for human consumption. Bluegill can range in size from 2" to 4".
