The Speedmaster Professional is the only watch to bear the title of "Moonwatch," the highest honor for a tool watch. It was in 1985 that the Speedmaster Professional first featured a Moon Phase display, displaying the phases of the moon. Featuring a Moon Phase and pointer date on an additional subdial at 12 o'clock, the Speedmaster Moon Phase quickly captured the hearts of fans worldwide. However, it is said that only around 2,000 were produced, which was not enough to satisfy all fans, and it quickly became a "holy grail" for collectors. The Speedmaster Moon Phase received numerous updates, including sapphire crystal glass and a transparent case back, and was released in 2003 as the Ref. 3576.50. |
