Condition Description

This 1970 Yamaha SA-50 is a remarkable survivor from the golden era of Japanese guitar manufacturing. Despite being over 50 years old, this fully original model is in exceptionally beautiful condition. The only notable cosmetic marks are minor screw holes; otherwise, the body and finish remain strikingly well-preserved. It features a resonant maple hollow body paired with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard. The original twin single-coil pickups deliver the distinctive, clear, and woody vintage tone that Yamaha's early SA series is famous for. The 1-volume, 2-tone, and 3-way switch configuration is fully functional, offering versatile sonic options. For collectors and players seeking an authentic vintage Japanese semi-acoustic in superior condition, this SA-50 is a rare find. Please refer to the photos for details.

The SA-50, released in the late 1960s and early 70s, represents Yamaha's original take on the semi-acoustic guitar, departing from simple Gibson clones to create a unique Japanese aesthetic. This model is highly regarded for its "open" headstock design and the specific "hum-free" single-coil pickups that offer more bite and clarity than traditional humbuckers. Finding a completely original SA-50 in such clean condition is increasingly difficult, as many from this era suffer from heavy binding rot or hardware corrosion. Its lightweight construction and slim neck profile make it a favorite for players who appreciate vintage character combined with effortless playability.
