A rare N-serial Explorer. This is a highly original piece, featuring the original tritium luminous hands and bracelet from a Ref. 78360 with a single-lock clasp, combined with a 558B end link. The Explorer was born in the early 1950s, when Rolex provided the British Everest Expedition with the 36mm Oyster Perpetual, aiming to create a watch specialized for adventurers. This Ref. 14270 was released in 1990 as the successor to the previous Ref. 1016, which had been a long-selling model for 30 years. While retaining the traditional 36mm case and quarter Arabic dial design, it has established a sharp and modern style with sapphire crystal glass and polished lacquer dial. |
