SAE (Scientific Audio Electronics) P500 Professional solid-state amplifier, 500 watts/channel
Serial Number: 001374
Date of Manufacture: 1980s
Description: This rare SAE monster professional power amp yields 500 watts/channel into 8 ohms at .05% Total Harmonic Distortion. This was the largest and highest quality amplifier that SAE ever made.
Performance Notes: Unit sounds good and seems to be operating as intended. Lights work and independent gain knobs work. Both channels emit a low-level buzz/hum, when your ear is about 8”-12” from the speaker. It only gets louder when the gain is absolutely maxed out. I don't believe it's a ground loop issue; perhaps just due to age of transformer? Please see video of my P500 in use.
Cosmetic Condition: In fair, vintage condition. Nicks on rack handles, top and faceplate. Please take a close look at my photos.
Ownership History: I purchased this unit from my retired friend’s estate. He told me he was the second owner and used this amp primarily for live sound in his band in the 2000s.
Service History: Unknown - although the ABL electronics tag on the bottom suggests it was serviced at some point.
What’s included: Amplifier only
Shipping: Unit will be boxed as securely as possible. I will cover shipping - which will come at a significant cost, as this unit weighs close to 100 lbs and is huge.
Thanks for your interest in my listing! Please check my long-term feedback; I try to conduct business as I'd want to be treated!
