Offering a lovely cut crystal and marked sterling silver sugar caster or shaker.
The hallmarks are:
164: probably a model or pattern number; and
A stylized flower topped with a 3-feather plume for the firm, the Wm B Durham Company, of Concord, NH, which produced quality sterling items beginning on 1853, later merging with Gorham.
As you can see from the photos, this lovely piece is detached from its base. It’s a shame but perhaps it can be fixed.
The piece weighs 267g, the base and lid alone weighing 95g of sterling. There is a collar and necklace of silver on the crystal which cannot be detached so I can’t weigh the silver. Together with the glass, it weighs 172g.
This piece came down to me through the generations from my great-grandfather, who lived in Alabama, and was a great collector of silverware.
