This rare 1983 JV Serial Squier ST-502, crafted by Fujigen, is a historic masterpiece from Fender Japan's earliest era. Unlike later budget models, this JV-era Squier features high-quality Japanese craftsmanship with a unique dual-humbucker (2H) configuration. The guitar is in Grade B condition with visible scratches, dents, and oxidation on metal parts consistent with its 40-year age. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is fully functional with ample room in both directions. Frets have been leveled and retain plenty of height for smooth playability. Note: the bridge has been replaced and the back tremolo plate is missing. A truly resonant, vintage "Japan Vintage" gem that demonstrates why Fujigen's build quality shocked the world. Includes a soft case and arm.
The "JV Serial" (1982-1984) represents the holy grail of Japanese Fender history. In the early 80s, Fender Japan used the Squier brand for ambitious, non-traditional designs rather than just cheaper ones. While the "Fender" logo was reserved for vintage reissues, modern specs like the ST-502's dual humbuckers were labeled as Squier, even though they were built to the same professional standards at the legendary Fujigen factory. The ST-502 is a "Modern Vintage" hybrid, offering a thicker, Gibson-esque tone within a classic Stratocaster silhouette. These early Squiers are so well-made that they famously outperformed Fender USA production of the time, making them highly coveted by global collectors today.
