Oh this spectacular piece! Created by renowned artist, Dominique Denaive who is still producing gorgeous jewelry in Paris. Taking his cue from other eco-conscious designers, he uses resin in his work, and has become known for combining an artist’s eye for shape and color, a craftsman’s spectacular workmanship, and a fashion icon for his ability to tap into the needs of a modern wardrobe.

This necklace is such a classic: the thick brass chain and hook closure are hammered and their roughness belies their quality; 2 small black resin beads link the chain and necklace; the long black resin beads forming the basis of the collar are reminiscent of horn and give the piece a somewhat tribal feel. Then, 5 purple resin beads, separated by small black beads, are hand crafted, not all exactly alike, not all equally finished: there are a couple of tiny spots where the color has failed to adhere (see photo).

The effect of this necklace is both subtle and powerful, rich but not flashy, the kind of thing you’d expect a Parisian to wear ;) It is a truly remarkable piece.

Max wearable length is 17”.
