The modern Pasha collection was launched in 1985, inspired by a large waterproof watch ordered by Thami El Glaoui, the Pasha of Marrakech (a high-ranking title in the political and military system of the Ottoman Empire) in the early 1930s, from Louis Cartier. Cartier was enjoying success with the Must Tank and Santos at the time, and the Pasha continued to do well. Ten years later, the Pasha C, with a reduced case diameter of 35 mm, was released, which succeeded in gaining support from both men and women, sparking a huge boom. The simple yet instantly recognizable style is timeless and full of timeless appeal. |
