A finely executed Japanese Kutani porcelain tea service comprising four scalloped plates and one matching teacup, richly decorated in the traditional Kutani palette of iron red, black, celadon, and extensive raised gilt.

Each piece is hand-painted with elegant bijin (court ladies) gathered within a serene landscape of mountains, flowing water, and autumnal foliage. The figures are rendered with remarkable precision and expressive detail, enhanced by layered moriage-style gold application and intricate gilt textile motifs along the borders.

The cup interior features a radiant gilt medallion, while the undersides are adorned with delicately painted crane motifs and bear red character marks reading “Kutani – Made in Japan,” consistent with early 20th-century export production.

The scalloped rims, balanced composition, and luminous gilding exemplify the refined craftsmanship associated with Kutani ware produced for Western markets during the Meiji to Taishō period.

Set includes:

• Four scalloped plates (approx. 4.5–5 inches diameter)

• One matching teacup

A distinguished and highly decorative ensemble, suitable for collectors of Japanese ceramics, Asian export porcelain, or refined cabinet display.
