Antique Wood 1922 Wright & Ditson George Wright Autograph Tennis Racket

Eye-catching design and color contrasts…. Classic vintage old early wood wooden racquet from W & D featuring great George Wright autograph and excellent banding; very little-used

MODEL: 1922 Wright & Ditson George Wright Autograph. This racket was the top of the line; it cost 13.00 in 1922… about $300 in today’s dollars

HEAD: Classic oval shape.  Stock is square at the shoulders and chamfered as it goes around the top of the head; light wood tones; much less than expected wear to the top of the head; retains almost all of original finish; losses to finish from a press.

WARPING: none

FRAME: excellent solid condition; retains almost all of original bright finish

THROAT WEDGE: concave and laminated in place in the style of the period

STRINGS: red-ish / orange-ish animal gut as shown

BANDING: graduated green thread bands are intact

DECALS: as shown

GRIP: LARGE: 5 • 1/4 inches

IMPRINTED STAMPS:    X      14        as shown

WEIGHT: weighs 13.8 ounces actual weight

END CAP: slightly flared leather strip is intact; end cap is rare survivor as shown
