Table Spoon and Fork Set, .950 Silver
by Maison Denière, Guillaume Denière aka Deninger, Paris, France, in the Contour Avec Filet or Tipped or Threaded Colonial Style of the French Second Empire [1852-1870]
Designed and crafted by French master silversmith Guillaume Denière also known as Guillaume Deninger of Maison Denière in the 1850s, this lovely personal equipment of a hefty Table Fork paired with an equally solid Table Spoon was once owned by someone with the initials P.T. To ensure that the set would always be recognized as his--we believe it was a man's set given the size--he had it elegantly engraved in large shaded capital letters on the back.
At an impressive combined 162 grams, approx. 5.7 oz, the spoon measures 21.5 cm, or 8 7/16", the fork 20.75" cm, or 8 3/16". Both are stamped with the Minerva stamp for 950 grade solid silver in a rectangle with tapered corners, and the mark of Maison Denière G D in a diamond shape.
