Offered here is a non-enhanced Gingko cranei gingko leaf from the Sentinel Butte Formation from Morton County, North Dakota; Paleocene in age. This beautiful leaf was found in 1987 by my father. He and I were instrumental in alerting Peter Crane, Steve Manchester, and David Dilcher to this important site. All the leaves/cones/staminates I am offering were legally collected. Almost all the leaves you see for sale have been enhanced with white shoe polish. How can you tell? Look at the veins of the leaf. If you can see distinct venation (as in this example) the leaf is natural. If all you see is white leaves with a no venation, the leaf has been enhanced. This beautiful example measures 2 3/4” wide and has a small amount of petiole attached. The matrix measures 6” x 5”. I have literally thousands of leaves, cones, seeds, staminate of all different types as my father was born and raised in Bismarck and had sole permission to collect for 20 plus years.
