The ancient Mathias Neüner master violin of the best Mittenwald quality and timeless beauty.
This antique 150+years violin by and labelled Mathias Neüner with No. 94 is a 19th century violin of rare beauty and the best range quality instrument. No 94 refers to the number of his house, and not the number of the instrument as sometimes erroneously stated. The instrument has original golden-brown shade of varnish. The violin we received in Edinburgh from collection Late prof. Peter Higgs (Nobel prize-winning theoretical physicist).
This is beautiful example of a mid 19th century German violin, is in very good condition and has beautiful full and mature sound. The violin has a dark and deep almost viola like tone in the lower register, with a singing and projecting upper register. It's setup very well and is very easy to play in any register. This violin features a two pieces back of moderately flamed maple, ebony fittings, and a very nice old growth spruce top. This would be a fantastic, instrument for an advanced student or professional player wanting a mature sounding violin.
