Featuring a mahogany body and maple top, this guitar features post-1968 specs, a clear tone with a sense of attack, a rich distortion, and a speedy sound. Its wide range and moderate treble create a powerful tone that easily handles distortion and fuzz, making it easy to understand why so many artists have left their mark on it. Equipped with a 490R neck pickup and a 498T bridge pickup, it delivers everything from lustrous clean tones to edgy distortion. This modern classic model, unlike the original 1950s Black Beauty, features a laminated mahogany body and maple top, similar to the reproduction model. The mahogany back of the body is weight-relieved for stress-free playability. The deep neck joint provides a more direct, vintage feel, transmitting string vibrations more directly than the short tenon pickups used in previous post-1968 reproductions. This is an attractive Les Paul Custom that combines the best of both the original and reproduction specs.
