Introduction to the bottom note: Yang Pengnian, styled Erquan and with the pseudonym Dapeng, was a renowned artisan of Yixing purple clay teapots during the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods of the Qing Dynasty (1796-1850). He was from Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province. Skilled in making teapots, some are simple and elegant, some are delicate and exquisite, and they are also good at matching clay colors. It pioneered the technique of molding the spout without using a mold and making the spout concealed. Although it was made casually, it still had a natural charm and was known as the "Pengnian Teapot". It had a considerable influence on later generations.
Introduction to the base inscription: Yang Youlan was a renowned teapot maker from the late Qianlong period to the Jia Dao period. He mainly makes large and small round teapots. He is skilled in painting. His distinctive feature is that the landscapes, figures, flowers and plants, as well as the upright characters in seal script on the teapots are all inlaid with sand and clay. Each of his works is infused with wisdom.
