Signals 40th anniversary limited edition picture disc featuring brand
new Hugh Syme 40th Cover and Art
Released on September 9, 1982, Signals marked a turning point in Rush’s
evolution, as the Canadian power trio moved further away from their hard
rock and progressive roots and fully embraced a more synth-driven,
new-wave-influenced sound. Following the success of Moving Pictures
(1981), the band had already begun experimenting with tighter song
structures and atmospheric textures, but Signals took that
transformation even further. Featuring layered synthesizers,
reggae-influenced rhythms, and introspective lyrics, the album was both
a commercial success and a divisive release, signaling Rush’s commitment
to musical evolution rather than sticking to a formula.
