I used this in my main gaming rig for a secondary storage device for my Steam library but recently upgraded my motherboard and it's no longer needed. It supports M.2 NVMe drives that are M-key and range in sizes from 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280. I personally used a full size 2280 drive in it and it worked just fine at it's full read/write speeds. The minimum slot size needed is a PCIe x4 and can be used all the way up to a x16 slot. It has a thermal pad already installed but can be easily replaced if you have one on hand (the tear in the pad is from the mounting screw for the drive).
