Globally acclaimed musician, producer and songwriter Steven Wilson releases his eighth studio album “The Overview”. The 42-minute work, consisting of two epic tracks - "Objects Outlive Us" and "The Overview" - is inspired by the "Overview Effect", a transformative experience that astronauts experience when looking at Earth from space.
With 'The Overview', Wilson returns to his progressive roots, a genre that he played a key role in shaping. The two ambitious pieces consist of unique musical sections that flow seamlessly into one another, combining classic prog elements with modern influences such as electronic and post-rock. The lyrics, some by XTC's Andy Partridge, tell stories about the beauty and challenges of life on earth.
The album reflects 30 years of Wilson's career, with echoes of Porcupine Tree, The Raven That Refused to Sing and The Future Bites. As always, Wilson delivers an audiophile experience: »The Overview« will be available in spatial audio and as a specially mastered half-speed vinyl.
'The Overview' is a unique work for 2025 - an experience for open ears and broad thoughts.
