The first volume of the Aderhold/t collection differs in style from the three volumes that follow. In volume one the author endeavored to present the history of the Aderhold/t family (by various spellings) of Germany and the life of his immigrant ancestor Frederick William Aderhold from his birth in 1748 Uthleben, Germany till his death in 1807/8 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.
To assist the reader and reflecting upon world events influencing the swelling tide of Europeans to migrate as immigrants to the wilderness areas of the sparsely settled early American colonies, the author selected and presented in volume one records and stories from history that were intended to add an additional dimension to the story of the lives of the Aderhold/t families, both in Germany and in the United States. The format in which the remaining volumes of the Aderhold/t collection is presented was designed to offer researchers statistical data, in a brief, logical and concise manner. The appendix of each volume contains photographs, biographies and documentation from Family Bibles, church and civil records, etc., Items that will hopefully be not only of interest to the researcher, but to the casual reader as well.
The stories of the pioneering days, the photographs of civil war veterans, their letters from the forefront of battle to their loved ones back home, the family stories of survival during the desperate years of the Civil War and the widespread, poverty and famine that followed, the military documents and records where they served and died in vain for a way of life which they cherished deeply, the hundreds of stories of joys, accomplishments, and tragedies of the other hopes down through the generations to the present day, comprise a family heritage which all who descended from the bloodline of Frederick William Aderholt and his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth can justly be proud. The Aderhold/t collection provides a foundation for future similar books extending and expanding forward in time of each of the three basic families of the descendants of John Conrad, John George and Jacob. The author spent 15 years developing this family history. It was a spellbinding and obsessive adventure, tracking down historical records in Germany and America, locating and corresponding with previously unknown family members and solving many extra questions from the past.
This is a remarkable family history and heritage of the Aderhold/t Family that any descendent or family member would cherish as a family heirloom to be passed down and remain in the family. It’s a near impossible collection to locate in its entirety, particularly in this near “like new” condition.
