Hoon Payon Narai by Arjarn Ongart Seengam.
Hoon Payon Narai. (altar-sized statue,four-armed)
A woven Hoon Payon empowered by the might of Narai, crafted by Arjarn Ongart in very limited numbers, focusing on quality over quantity, as always.
Arjarn Ongart shared an intriguing insight into the spiritual belief behind the creation of Hoon Payont (animated effigy guardians). He explained that the strange and often faceless appearance, lacking eyes, ears, or distinct features, is not accidental. Rather, it is a deliberate design meant to intimidate and ward off malevolent spirits and unseen forces, compelling them to flee in fear.
In ancient times, people held deep fears and reverence for supernatural entities and invisible powers. To protect themselves from harm, they created Hoon Payon as spiritual guardians to absorb misfortunes, shield their homes and family members, and stand as sentinels when the owner was away. Thus, the Hoon Payon is not merely an object or artifact, but a powerful protector rooted in ancient wisdom, built to stand between the human world and the unknown.
This particular Hoon Payon was created by Arjarn Ongart following the sacred lineage of the Narai-style Hoon Payon, which he inherited with great reverence from his masters in the ancient tradition. The Hoon Payon is crafted using the traditional hand-weaving method from natural materials, a reflection of the ancestral wisdom passed down through generations. These materials are believed to possess intrinsic spiritual power, and are purposefully selected to form the βbodyβ of the Hoon Payon, imbuing it with meaning and magical essence right from its physical construction.
Inside each Hoon Payon, Arjarn Ongart has embedded sacred materials according to ancient scriptures, representing the internal organs of the Hoon Payon. These powerful ingredients were carefully selected and ritually prepared. The Hoon Payon was then consecrated through a complete and intensive series of sacred rituals, performed over several months using potent incantations and magical formulas. Only after Arjarn Ongart was certain of their full spiritual activation, capable of protecting, warding off evil, and absorbing misfortune on behalf of the devotee, did he release them for those who truly appreciate the esoteric art of Hoon Payon to worship and keep.
