Here we offer an Athearn DD40 loco, wheel configuration D-D finished in Pennsylvania Railroad black livery, run number 9002, HO scale. Actually, the DD40 was only ever sold to Union Pacific, so the PenRR livery was an Athearn error as they jumped the gun in launching the model before the protoype was passed off and ordered by UP. The PenRR livery is however, an original Athearn livery even though it is wrong! The 12 inch to the foot model was was fitted with two EMD motors and was the largest most powerfull diesel traction unit ever built on one frame, sitting on two bogies each fitted with 4 powered axles - hence the designation D-D. The model also features two bogies each with 4 powered axles, and the loco is a gargantuan 31cms (12+inches) long and comes in at 750 grams
A great  and very quiet loco that will not disapoint but it is wishing someone would come along and give it a good spring clean and some tlc. A couple of hand rails are loose but nothing of significance.
