The Tsumeb Mine in Namibia is renowned for its exceptional reticulated cerussite crystals. The color, translucency and adamantine luster are excellent, and the form (reticulated growth due to cyclic twinning) is outstanding. The twinning is so well developed that the branches crisscross, creating the famous latticework and snowflake design that is so unique and desirable. The central area of the piece is a pale smoky amber and the outer areas are gemmy with a distinct smoky hue.
