The kobza (Ukrainian: кобза ладкова) is a Ukrainian (until the 17th century) lute-like plucked string instrument with four or more paired strings.
The kobza consists of a body and a neck. The neck has 8-10 frets, which can be used to produce the sounds of the chromatic scale on each string. There were also fretless instruments. In Ukraine, since the 17th century, the word "kobza" has become synonymous with the bandura.
