Fredda Brilliant 'Three Graces' bronze figurine group in a contemporary Pre-Raphaelite mythological reinterpretation.

(Maw & Co 3ft diameter Aesthetic Movement exhibition charger dtd between 1862-1883 running in a separate lusting, not part of this listing which is for the 3 bronzes figures only).

A group of 3 figures, originally intended to be mourners consoling eachother. Dressed in the clothes of ancient Greece..as set about sculpting noticed their individual mobility and reinterpreted as dancing figures and the 'Three Mourners' became the 'Three Graces'..

Imagined scaling the figures up to 6ft tall and moving around a pool to organ music by Bach, even having friend John Yardley, then Vice President of McDonnell Douglas (main occupation at the time, sending Apollo missions to the Moon) conceive a technical design for the dynamics to make this work..

The final iteration of this concept are these 3 bronzes with bodies 'transparent' through chiffon robes.

Heights incl. base 74cm / bronze figures 65cm.

All 3 signed and dated 1976.
