    How to Change a CV Axle:

     

    Part 1 Removing the Vehicle’s Axle Nut
    1.Remove the vehicle’s hubcap.
    2.Remove the cotter pin from the axle nut.
    3.Remove the axle nut.

     

    Part 2 Removing the Wheel and Brake Assembly
    1.Jack up the appropriate side of the car.
    2.Place the vehicle on jack stands.
    3.Remove the wheel.
    4.Remove the brake caliper.
    5.Unbolt the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle. 
    6.Unbolt the hub from the strut tower.

     

    Part 3 Removing and Replacing the CV Axle
    1.Pry the CV joint. 
    2.Insert the new CV axle into the transmission housing.
    3.Reinsert the axle through the hub assembly. 
    4.Refasten the assemblies in the order you removed them. 
    5.Reattach the wheel.
    6.Tighten the axle nut.
