Perfect for leash training, everyday walks, and preventing escape behavior, our Metal Martingale Collar is a smart choice for dog owners who value control, quality, and style.
To choose the right martingale dog collar size, it's important to measure your dog’s neck correctly to ensure a secure, comfortable fit — especially since martingale collars are designed to gently tighten when pulled.
Get a soft tape measure or use a string and ruler.
Measure three points:
Neck circumference: Measure around the middle of your dog’s neck, where the collar normally sits.
Head circumference: Measure around the widest part of your dog’s head, typically just in front of the ears.
🔸 This ensures the collar can slip over the head if it’s a slip-on style.
Behind the ears: Some trainers also recommend measuring just behind the ears for added control.
Choose the larger of the neck or head measurement.
The collar should fit loosely over the head, but snugly when the control loop tightens.
For example, if your dog’s neck is 15" and their head is 17", you should choose a collar that adjusts to at least 17".
Most collars list a range (e.g., 14"–18"). Choose a size where your dog’s measurement falls near the middle of that range.
Make sure the collar fits snug but not tight when the control loop is pulled.
You should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck when worn.
