* Special Note:  The "Ike" jacket, officially known as the Wool Field Jacket, M-1944, was a waist-length, olive drab jacket developed for the U.S. Army during World War II, named after General Dwight D. Eisenhower. In 1941, while stationed at Fort Lewis, Eisenhower had a tailor modify a standard service coat to a shorter, more fitted style. It was a practical and stylish alternative to the longer, more cumbersome coats previously in use, and it became a popular symbol of the war.
