The OD-2R has similar internal circuitry as the OD-2, in my opinion the R model has higher gain than the original. The Turbo and non turbo modes are completely separate drive circuits within the pedal. The OD-2R's only new feature is the remote connector. It accepts an optional latching footswitch which comes with this pedal, press the switch on the remote pedal the light goes on signalling you are in Turbo mode!

The main complaint of this pedal is the lack of "Boost" which is why on repairing the pedal, I decided to carry out the "Wampler Volume Mod" with the highest possible quality components. This mod means there is now much much more volume than standard eliminated the annoying volume drop the pedal suffered from. It also adds gain and grunt to your signal.

This modification gives more more bottom end and increases Gain on the turbo channel. Adds more Bass to the non turbo (rhythm) more Gain and more prominent lower Mids. It also makes the Overdrive tones fuller, warmer and more organic. Allows Pedal to clean up better. More volume and distortion is also added to both modes mode. Clipping is much fuller and much more dynamic, improving the 'Marshall Characteristics' of this pedal. The dull red LED has been replaced by a subtle Yellow LED making it easier to see the check status. Thank you to Brian Wampler for this great mod. You need to play through it to understand just how good this mod is.

The OD-2r was made to replace the OD-2 which in hand replaced the infamous OD-1. All three are now discontinued. This is a very different overdrive than others at the time of release, the OD-2r has a character all its own. Original box has become lost label on base of pedal is missing, likely stuck to a strip of velcro somewhere.
