Description: This beautiful stein was made between 1910 - 1920 and designed in the style usually associated with one of the most famous Jugendstil designers - Franz Ringer.
His designs are the most collectible among the beer stein and Jugendstil collectors. The stein is not signed and attributed to Ringer by association. The design mainly consists of the inscription made with stylized script in Jugendstil manner - a favorite Ringer's concept when script is the main element of design. The inscription reads:
Alle Zeit ein voll Krugel
ist mein Freud |
All the time, my full beer stein
is my delight |
The lid is engraved with a presentation inscription - I was not able to decipher it.
The construction of the lid with the tang not attached but cast along with the lid suggests it was made in the 1910s - 1920s. The lid is marked with the pewterer's manufacturing mark - "A.Vogler Lichtenfels".
The stein is in excellent condition, it is 6" tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity.
