Big Sandy Railway Company

 Big Sandy Railway Company unissued stock certificate No. 80 dated 190_ which would have been issued at Ashland, Kentucky. Ornate border with train exiting tunnel and place for gold embossed corporate seal located in lower left hand corner of certificate.  Document was printed by National Seal works, Richmond, Virginia.

Big Sandy Railway Company was incorporated in Kentucky in 1902.  The company was consolidated with Big Sandy Railway Company of Virginia in 1902. The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company took over the operation in 1905 and proceeded with construction from White House to Marrowbone, Marrowbone to Elkhorn City, and Marrowbone to Hellier with completion in 1906.  

The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company of Kentucky was formed by consolidation with Kinniconick and Freestone Railroad Company and Big Sandy Railway Company was dissolved in 1907.  Mineral lands containing 18000 acres were conveyed by deed The Chesapeake Mineral Company with a separate deed conveying The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company of Kentucky to The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company
